Doxford Farm, Luxury Glamping

Updated: Sep 22, 2022

Pure tranquillity, oozing in Rustic Charm with a touch of Quirk.

It was an absolute pleasure to stay with Doxford Farm Camping recently and we feel incredibly lucky to have experience their accommodation.

Set on a working Farm in Northumberland and within easy reach of the coast, the Glamping Pods are located in a very quite and tranquil area, aside from the odd tractor heading out to work the fields and the sounds of wildlife, it is extremely peaceful making for a very restful stay.

I loved the quirky touches

Each pod in unique and sleeps 4, one bedroom has a sliding door and a king sized bed, which I have to say is the comfiest bed I have slept in for a long time, that mattress just wow! And the second bedroom is open plan and down a hall way, it contains the cutest bunks beds - although these caused the usual arguments of who was having top bunk the kids absolutely loved them and have been begging for bunks since we got home!

The lounge area is beautiful and full of unique quirky touches, it is super comfy and comfortably seats 2 adults and 2 children (we actually comfortably squeezed 3 kids in), of course we love the outdoors so lots of time was spent on the composite deck and around the fire pit, toasting marshmallows and star gazing.

You can just tell that so much thought and love has been seeped into these pods, each space is so well designed and the attention to detail is out of this world.

The kitchen area consists of a double gas hob, space to prepare food, beautiful sink, fridge and small freezer and every utensil you need to cook a simple meal. We easily cooked Spaghetti Bolognese and Sausage and Mash.

Tea, Coffee, Sugar and Milk were all waiting for us when we arrived and upon opening the fridge, I was delighted to find a bottle of wine and a handwritten bar of chocolate too!

The Bathroom, well it is stunning, you could honestly be in a 5* Hotel in there, the wallpaper was beautiful as was the stunning wash basin and shower. I shall let the images speak for themselves as I cannot find the words to describe this area in enough detail.

Did I mention Dog & Family Friendly

A stay at Doxford Farm would be incredibly romantic, our neighbours were away celebrating an anniversary and I have it on good authority, that a couple of pods just for couples, are coming soon - these may or may not include hot tubs too!

However although they're fantastic for couples, the pods are also brilliant for families and dog lovers, dogs are made to feel very welcome with dog biscuits and a water bowl waiting for them, all that is asked is that dogs are kept on lead, which lets face it is more than understandable.

Also waiting in the pod were details of the cutest Fairy and Elf Trail, it was during this trail we were treated to the wonderful sight of 4 deer leaping out of the woods right in front of us and pausing for a couple of minutes to watch us - it was a beautiful moment where time stood still!

And talking of wildlife this is in abundance, we saw Deer twice, a Stoat up close, Hares, countless birds of prey and heard several owls.

Northumberland's won my heart

I have literally fallen in love with Northumberland, having not visited since a child I couldn't really fully remember how beautiful it was. The coastline is just stunning and I loved the little villages, I will absolutely be back again soon to explore more.

I wouldn't hesitate to book to stay at Doxford Farm, the site is within easy reach of the most stunning coastline and dog friendly beaches, the closest beach is just 10 minutes away and was lovely and quite, we visited Bamburgh too which is beautiful, boasting a huge beach side Castle and is only 30 minutes away.

Thank you so much Katryna and John for sharing your wonderful property with us it was truly a pleasure to visit you.
